When did you start weightlifting and what inspired you to start weightlifting?

 1978 – Just started working out.

 

When did you get involved with powerlifting and what got you interested in the sport?

2006 – Entered first powerlifting meet in Greely Colorado.

  • 2 Time Raw National Champion

  • IPF Masters Worlds – 3rd and 5th place

  • Former USAPL Master M3 American Record – Raw Squat – 325.1

  • Bench Pressed bodyweight 10 times over 70 years of age.

  • Alabama Powerlifting HOF - 2019

 

Who are some of the most memorable lifters/people for you in your career? 

My coach and trainer, Jack, in Greely Colorado where I first competed.

Curtis Wainwright – Part of the “Alabama Gang”.

Tim Womack – Coach and lifting partner for many years.

Billy Keel – USAPL Former State Chair.

  

With your name as part of the history of powerlifting in Alabama, what would you like to be most remembered for?

Alabama Powerlifting Hall of Fame Inductee.

Former USAPL Master M3 American Record – Raw Squat – 325.1

Competed my entire career as a Master lifter

  

What words of wisdom would you like to pass down to future powerlifters?

Age is just a number.

Train with someone who has powerlifted before.

Don’t ever quit!

  

What are some of your contributions to sport of powerlifting in Alabama? 

State Chair, Meet Director and pertinent meets, Judge & level & Feds, ways you contributed to other meets (announcer, score table, spot/loader, expediter)

I was a USAPL State Certified Referee.

I spot/loaded at a few meets.
